Bespoke Outdoor Kitchens Designed Around How You Live
An outdoor kitchen is not a flat-pack unit bolted to a patio.
It is a permanent structure, designed around how you cook and entertain, built from materials that handle Scottish weather year after year.
MacColl & Stokes designs and builds bespoke outdoor kitchens in Glasgow and Central Scotland, from a focused BBQ station with granite worktops to a fully equipped garden kitchen with sink, pizza oven, fridge, and overhead cover. Every project is designed from scratch to fit the space, the client, and the way they use their garden. Part of our wider outdoor living range.

Outdoor Kitchen Designs We Build
We build bespoke outdoor kitchens from a focused BBQ station with granite worktops to a fully equipped garden kitchen with sink, pizza oven, fridge, and overhead cover.

Compact BBQ Station
Built-in grill, worktop, and storage. Suits smaller terraces or gardens where space is limited but a permanent cooking area is still the priority.
L-Shape or Island Layout
Separates cooking and prep zones. Creates a natural flow for entertaining and allows guests to gather around the kitchen without crowding the cooking area.
Covered Outdoor Kitchen
Pergola or canopy structure overhead. A covered kitchen extends the usable season significantly and makes the space practical in all weather, not just on dry days.
Full Garden Kitchen
Grill, sink, fridge, pizza oven, and a full worktop run. Suits larger spaces where the kitchen anchors a wider outdoor entertaining area.
Kitchen with Integrated Bar
The worktop extends into a bar overhang with seating. Pairs well with a garden bar area or wider paved entertaining space.
Kitchen with Paved Dining Area
The outdoor kitchen anchors a wider paved space that includes a dining area. Stone paving or porcelain ties the two zones together visually and practically.

What We Can Build Into Your Outdoor Kitchen
The brief below covers the most common features we install. Most projects combine several. Your design is built around the features that suit how you actually use your garden.
Built-In BBQ / Gas Grill
Stainless steel housing with permanent fixing. Available in gas or charcoal configuration. Built into the structure so it sits flush with the worktop run.
Granite or Porcelain Worktops
Frost-resistant and non-porous. Built for food prep, serving, and all-weather use. Both materials hold their finish through Scottish winters without absorbing moisture or staining.
Weatherproof Storage
Cabinets and drawers in HPL or marine-grade materials. Handles damp conditions without swelling, warping, or degrading over time.
Pizza Oven
Wood-fired or gas, built into the main structure or set on the worktop. We can incorporate chimney ventilation or flue routing into the design at the build stage.
Stainless Steel Sink
304-grade fittings with cold or hot water supply. Plumbing routes are planned before the structure is built, so there is no retrofitting or visible pipework.
Outdoor Fridge or Wine Cooler
Integrated into the main unit or set undercounter. Wiring and ventilation are planned into the structure from the outset.
Additional options include overhead canopy or pergola cover, ambient and task lighting, electric supply and USB points, an outdoor bar area, and a paved or composite decked base.
Materials Built for the Scottish Climate
Most outdoor kitchen failures come down to materials specified for a warmer, drier climate. Glasgow sees around 1,100mm of rainfall per year and regular freeze-thaw cycles through winter. The materials below are specified with that in mind.

Porcelain Worktops
Non-porous and frost-resistant. Porcelain does not stain, does not absorb moisture, and holds its surface finish through multiple winters without treatment.

HPL Panel Cladding
UV-stable and frost-resistant. Available in stone effect and solid colour finishes. Holds appearance over time without painting, treating, or replacing.

Granite Worktops
Handles freeze-thaw cycles when correctly sealed. Premium finish and highly durable. Requires resealing approximately every two years to maintain moisture resistance.

Composite Decking Base
Allows drainage through the gaps in the board profile. Avoids pooling risk on surfaces that have not been graded for water run-off.

304-Grade Stainless Steel
This is the minimum grade you should specify for any outdoor kitchen in Scotland. 304 grade resists corrosion at the rainfall levels we see here. 430-grade stainless steel, which appears in cheaper builds, corrodes faster in wet climates and will show surface rust within a few seasons.

The Details
Design details include contrasting worktop and cladding finishes, integrated drainage channels, matching paved surrounds, and tie-in to any overhead structure.
How We Build Your Outdoor Kitchen
With over 40 years landscaping experience, we have built up an extensive portfolio of work and pride ourselves in being able to turn our client's visions into a reality. With a wealth of knowledge in garden design and construction, we know we can create the perfect environment for you.

Initial Discussion
Let's have a chat about your garden space, specification, design aspirations and budget.

Site Survey
We assess the space, orientation, drainage, proximity to the house, and access to existing utilities. This shapes what is practical before any design decisions are made.
Design Consultation
Layout, appliance selection, materials, worktop finish, and base surface are all confirmed at this stage. You see the design before any groundworks begin.

Groundworks
Excavation, base preparation, drainage, and water and electrical rough-in. Getting this stage right determines whether the finished kitchen sits level, drains correctly, and has clean service routes.

Installation
Structure build, appliance fitting, worktop laying, cladding, and lighting. Each stage is completed in sequence so the finish is clean and the structure is sound.

Completion!
Final inspection, client walkthrough, and a care and maintenance guide covering your specific materials and appliances.

The MacColl & Stokes Difference
We build bespoke outdoor kitchens from a focused BBQ station with granite worktops to a fully equipped garden kitchen with sink, pizza oven, fridge, and overhead cover.
Bespoke design from scratch
No prefab kits and no off-the-shelf units. Every outdoor kitchen is designed for the specific space, the specific client, and the specific way it will be used.
Full project management
Groundworks, utilities, structure, and finishing are managed under one team. You have a single point of contact from survey to handover.
Materials specified for Central Scotland
We do not use materials specified for southern England and hope they hold up. Every material choice is made with Scottish rainfall, frost, and temperature range in mind.
304-grade stainless steel and frost-rated surfaces as standard
These are not upgrades. They are the baseline specification for every outdoor kitchen we build in this climate.
