What we build in Bearsden
Every Bearsden job we have completed has been a build, not a maintenance contract.
Here is what that usually involves.
Most Bearsden clients come to us with a garden that has been left as the builder or the previous owner set it out. We survey the plot, draw it properly, price it line by line, then build it. Our full garden design service in Bearsden covers survey, concept, scaled plans, planting schedules and 3D renders.
Front gardens in Bearsden are wide and visible, and the drive is the first thing anyone sees. We lay resin bound, monoblock, tarmac, natural stone and stabilised gravel, all with the drainage planned before the first spade goes in. Our Bearsden driveway page sets out the surfaces and what each one suits.
Insulated garden rooms built in place, not delivered on a lorry and dropped on a slab. Offices, gyms and studios, tied into the levels and paving around them. Planning rules are tighter in Old Bearsden than elsewhere in the area, which our Bearsden garden rooms page explains in full.

Paving, Walling & Planting
The three that appear on nearly every Bearsden project. Porcelain and natural stone paving, brick and sleeper retaining walls to hold back the fall on sloped plots, and planting schemes that will survive an exposed Scottish winter.
What Bearsden gardens usually need
Bearsden is not one type of garden. The work changes street by street.
The interwar and postwar villas through Old Bearsden and Killermont sit on deep, narrow plots. Left open they read as one long strip and nobody uses the far end. Zoning fixes it: a terrace off the house, a lawn or planted middle, then something worth walking to at the back. On the Bearsden garden we completed between winter 2024 and early 2025, that far zone became an outdoor kitchen under a pergola roof with a fire pit alongside, which is why the whole garden gets used.
Old Bearsden sits inside a conservation area, which changes what you can do at the front without permission. In Scotland a hard surface between the house and the road is only permitted development if it is porous or drains to a porous area, and the rules are tighter in a conservation area. The Scottish Government's guidance on laying a hard surface sets out the detail, and East Dunbartonshire Council confirms every case. We check the position before we quote.
Our Process
